CompareSIM and home internet in Osaka
Choose your phone the same way as in Tokyo. For home internet, fiber may need installation, so apply as soon as your move-in is fixed and use a pocket Wi-Fi or plug-in router until then.

Home internet options
| Type | Good | Watch out | For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fiber | Fast and stable; good for remote work and games | May need installation; check the contract term | Staying a year or more |
| Plug-in home router | No installation; just plug it in | Can slow down at busy times | Using it right away, short stays |
| Pocket Wi-Fi | Take it outside too | Some plans have data caps | Bridging your first weeks |
Before you order fiber
- Does the building already have fiber? Ask the management company.
- Installation date and whether you need to be home
- Minimum term and cancellation fee
- Application and support in English or Vietnamese?
Some SIM companies for foreign residents also offer fiber with English support For example, Sakura Mobile's 1 Gbps fiber and its plug-in Home WiFi (no installation work) were both ¥7,678 a month with a ¥5,500 initial fee, tax included (Sakura Mobile). Ask about the minimum term before you sign.
For your phone, see SIM cards or SIM with just a residence card.
For workers living in company housing
- Ask your company first whether internet is already provided.
- Don't let others use or take over a line in your name.
In Osaka, English is most useful in tourism, hotels and restaurants serving visitors, English teaching, and companies trading with Asia...
